The season for Mini-me editions of flagship devices is still not over. Almost every big-name manufacturer has released smaller and albeit slightly less powerful variants of their flagships to appeal to a niche market segment which prefers sacrificing a little bit of size and power in lieu of a lesser price point. Personal preferences aside, we had been keeping on the lookout for the much rumored mini-me of LG’s stunning flagship. The latest news coming in reveals that the LG G3 Mini has been spotted in the shipping manifests of an Indian export site – Zauba – which has been kind enough to release some specs pertaining to the device as well. This listing also evidences the fact that we could hear an official announcement from LG in the coming weeks.
In terms of design and form factor, we would expect the LG G3 Mini to sport the same design philosophy we saw with the original LG G3, however, if the specs leaked on Zauba are anything to go by, the LG G3 Mini would be a mediocre device at best – which is nothing out of the ordinary. Zauba lists the LG G3 Mini as having a 4.5 inch display of unknown pixel density and resolution, while a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz powers it. Internal storage is set at 8 GB, however there is no information pertaining to a MicroSD slot availability as of yet. The primary camera is expected at 5 mega pixels (MP), a secondary camera may or may not be present. The device is juiced up thanks to the 2100 mAh battery, which would seem adequate for decent battery life, especially on account of the smaller display and lower CPU clock rating. As a general thumb rule, the bigger the screen and more powerful the processor, the higher the battery drain.
Zauba lists the price of the device at INR 13,051 (~$220), which may or may not be the final retail price. The LG G3 Mini – in terms of these specs atleast – looks to be a mediocre device with not much going for it, however it may definitely address a bigger market depending on the features – viz. LTE etc. We’ll keep you posted on any new developments on this news.
