For those of you with the Moto G Google Play Edition, you’ll be happy to know that it finally has its update to Android 4.4.4 which is now the most up-to-date version of Android available. Actually we should clarify and say the most stable version of Android, since Android L still isn’t that stable. The Moto G GPE is skipping ahead from Android 4.4.2 to Android 4.4.4, which isn’t a huge surprise since the Motorola DROID Maxx, Mini and Ultra are all doing the same thing. Android 4.4.3 just came out a few weeks ago, and then Android 4.4.4 came out about a week after that to fix some security exploits in Android 4.4.3, so it’s definitely a needed update.
The update is rolling out now to those with the Moto G Google Play Edition. For those looking to sideload it, we have the update.zip as well. This update will take you from build KTU84P from KOT49H. It’s important to remember that you can only sideload this update if you are rooted and running stock. As you need to be on KTU84P to get this update, otherwise you’re gonna run into problems, unfortunately. You will need either the Android SDK to flash this update, or have a stock recovery, which then the process becomes pretty easy to do.
How many of you out there are sporting the Moto G Google Play Edition? How many of you have already gotten the update to Android 4.4.4 KitKat? Be sure to let us know in the comments down below.
