This morning, T-Mobile announced that they have moved their Uncarrier 5.0 event from Los Angeles, CA, to their home of Seattle, WA. T-Mobile is now scrambling to move the event to Seattle which takes place in a little over a week. June 18th, both Amazon and T-Mobile have events from Seattle. Here’s what T-Mobile’s note to Journalists read about the location change:
“Our Seattle neighbor Amazon has big news on the 18th too – and right in our own back yard. We are looking forward to it! We heard a lot of journalists were planning to cover one or both events remotely, or send people to two places on the 18th. What a pain! And, you know, we do love to eliminate pain points. So, in true Un-carrier fashion, we are eliminating this pain point by moving Un-carrier 5.0 to Seattle on June 18th.”
Now this could be T-Mobile making it easier for publications heading to both events, or it could be something deeper, like whatever Amazon is announcing – which we believe is their smartphone – could be in partnership with T-Mobile some how. It’s pretty interesting and we know that’s going to start a lot of speculation, so feel free to head to the comments down below and speculate about why T-Mobile has moved their event to Seattle.
What’s interesting is that Amazon hasn’t announced times just yet for their event, but it does look like T-Mobile is going to be working their schedule around Amazon next week. It’s going to be an interesting day next week, and it’ll only be a week out of Google I/O. How many of you are interested to see what T-Mobile and Amazon have up their sleeves for next week’s events?
