T-Mobile Teases New Service Called The Underground Aimed At Tech Enthusiasts

T-mobile is taking a new approach to the device offerings from a wireless carrier with a service that they are naming “The Underground.” They’re trying to cater to the true technologically savvy and tech enthusiasts that are looking for exclusive products for those who actually care about having high performance options. The Underground sounds like it will attempt to speak to the part of you that is itching to have something which is only available in limited quantities, and T-Mobile tells us to “check our factory-standard devices at the door” even though we know you thought you might sneak them in. “It’s OK, we’re on the guest list.”

T-Mobile seems to be launching this new service with its own little corner carved out of the T-mobile web portal, and starting off by displaying the Gold colored Samsung Galaxy S5 that we have seen and heard about in previous weeks. There might have been one or two better choices for the first device to use in this campaign, but the Gold Galaxy S5 is not a bad start since it will be a color that not everyone will be able to get their hands on(you know.. limited quantities and all)and it has a fairly decent set of hardware specifications that lean on the performance side of things. Phones won’t be the only offer-able products in The Underground though. The page also shows off a few of this years hottest tech forward wearables like the Gear Fit, the Gold Gear 2 smartwatch and the Jawbone UP24.

The service is also about giving you the latest reviews and information from tech smart individuals that are “in the know” about the latest and greatest, but when it comes down to specifics T-mobile has been fairly quiet still on what The Underground will actually have to buy. From the Gold Galaxy S5 that we can see on the page right now one might assume just exclusive colors, but we’re really hoping T-mobile branches out here and will be offering those who want it, the chance to buy up devices and tech forward products that you literally might not be able to find many other places. They could really capitalize on the opportunity to cater to those who are looking for high end devices that aren’t sold by any other carrier here in the U.S.
