Xiaomi's RedMi Note Now Available for Less Than $200

In China, Xiaomi might be known for delivering high-end quality experiences at affordable prices, but here in the West their lower-end models can be a real bargain for curious import buyers. The company behind the popular MIUI ROM has been making affordable smartphones with some premium features like good displays and quality software. The RedMi Note is their latest budget-minded affair and is one for those that like their devices on the larger side thanks to its 5.5-inch display. Those thinking of getting hold of the device outside of China are in luck, as for the next few days the device is on sale for a very attractive price, indeed.

As our friends at GizChina have noted, Chinese online retailer Spemall is selling the RedMi Note for $169.99 US, which with shipping brings the price for a RedMi Note below $200. Unfortunately though, the sale will only be running for a short while longer, over the next few days, so those looking to capitalize should take a look at the source link post-haste. The version of the RedMi Note on offer supports WCDMA 900 and 1900 mHz so European buyers will be fine, but those in the US should check their network support first.

Xiaomi’s RedMi Note features an Octa-Core MediaTek MT6592 CPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage, with Android 4.2 and MIUI running the show. It’s a shame to see Android 4.2 here, but that blame lies with MediaTek and their reluctance to release new code. Still, for less than $200 this is a pretty good deal, especially if you’ve always wanted to play around with one of these Xiaomi devices the tech world is always talking about. The Moto G is of course a good deal as well, but it’s sure nice to have another option like this. Let us know in the comments if this is something you’d be interested in.
