HTC sort of changed their game plan this year with their devices. While they are sticking to just one flagship. they are doing multiple mid-range and low-end devices under the Desire brand. Which typically don’t come to the US. But this time around, we’ve got a Desire in the US and on AT&T. A few weeks ago, AT&T and HTC announced the Desire 610 for AT&T, and it’s available beginning today. We’re looking at an on-contract price of just $0.99, and off contract is $199. I’d definitely say to grab the off-contract price, if you’re going to be picking up the Desire 610. It just makes a lot more sense and will be cheaper in the long run.
The HTC Desire 610 comes with a 4.7-inch qHD display, that’s 960×540 resolution. Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor which is clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage with a microSD card slot, 8MP camera on the back with a 1.3MP front-facing shooter. It’s also got a non-removable 2040mAh battery inside. Which should be plenty of power to keep the Desire 610 going all day, especially with that display. It’s also running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat and Sense 6.0.
So we’re not looking at mind blowing specs here, but this is a $200 off-contract smartphone on AT&T. Which is pretty much unheard of for both AT&T and HTC. So if you’re looking for a new smartphone but don’t want to pay a ton for one, I’d definitely suggest the Desire 610. It’s actually a really nice looking smartphone, especially considering it is a low-end device. If I were on AT&T, I’d definitely check it out, if I were looking for a cheap smartphone. I’m definitely liking this trend of low-priced, but good smartphones. Motorola started it with the Moto G at $179 and it appears a lot of others are following now. Which is great.
