The Moto 360 by Motorola is the closest you can get to having a smartwatch that resembles a classic analog watch. The silver round design and leather bands give this smartwatch the stylish looks needed to look better than the rest. As of recent, Motorola released a video about the Moto 360 that details the design and origins of the idea behind creating the watch. Product leader Lior Ron goes into detail of their inspiration and dedication to stay true to the classic watch design as they carefully piece together this beautiful work of art.
In the video, Lior Ron explains how when they went to work creating the Moto 360, as he and his team wanted to balance design and functionality but ran into a problem. The problem was trying to figure out a way to interact with complicated technology in a simple and intuitive way. The complicated technology he is talking about is Android Wear. The implications he made about the technology is the fact that the software is now worn on your arm and is being viewed on a small screen. What Lior and his team were able to do to overcome this problem was create a round watch with a decent sized display. Unlike its competitors like the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live, there isn’t much bezel surrounding the device. This cylindrical design lets people view information comfortably on a sizeable display. Lior also implied that the watch is super comfortable on your wrist and is just a classical stylish watch.
From what Lior Ron went over in the video, it isn’t anything new. From our first looks of the Moto 360, you can already tell that the display takes up a sizeable amount of space and looks comfortable to wear. The video is mostly for promotional use but it really gives us a tease when they start showing those angle shots and the array of watch bands to choose from. The release of when Motorola will give us this beautiful watch may soon be around the corner. We’ll let you know when as details arise. In the meantime, let us know what you think about the video and watch design in the comments below.
