Samsung Galaxy Alpha Will be Announced August 4

Our source has just hit us up with the long rumored and elusive Samsung Galaxy Alpha – actual photos and the release date of August 4!  Usually, once the newest Galaxy S device is released in the Spring, we turn our sights to the Fall and look forward to the next Galaxy Note…but this year has been different.  The lack of enthusiasm for the Galaxy S5 left Samsung officials scrambling to find a ‘cure’ for their once yearly selling machine.  Enter the rumors of a Galaxy Prime, Galaxy F and Galaxy Alpha.

The timing makes perfect sense – as does this leak – it will be a month before the Note 4 is announced (officially) in September and given the way smartphones are coming out these days, a month to six weeks is about as much enthusiasm as we can garner for a new device before our attention wanders.  The device may have a metal backing, but it is certainly not flagship device and Samsung should not draw away attention from its upcoming Galaxy Note 4 – because Samsung has a lot riding on the Note series this year.

The Galaxy Alpha, although having a metal back, is a mixed bag of specifications – a 4.8-inch HD display with only 720p resolution…not the QHD we were hoping for, or even a Full HD like the original Galaxy S5.  It will have 32GB of NON-expandable internal storage, the customary fingerprint scanner…almost like the specs of a Galaxy S5 mini.  Samsung moved the Flash to the left of the camera and it looks like the speaker has been moved to the bottom edge of the device, ala Galaxy Note.  It looks like the previously leaked pictures were spot on in our previous article.

Please hit us up on our Google+ Page and let us know if you are looking forward to the Galaxy Alpha, or is it too little, too late? Do you think that Samsung should have use flagship specs rather than a mid-range type approach…is this yet another miscue by Samsung…as always, we would love to hear from you.
