Sony's Pre-IFA Conference's Date is Set

Hey, do you like Sony?  Did you plan on paying attention to IFA, the international trade show held annually, in Berlin this year?  Was it for Samsung?  Or was it for Sony?  Because regardless, we got wind that the Sony press conference will be held on September 3rd this year.  What is so important about getting to the conference or tuning in (perhaps to us here at Android Headlines?) for coverage of the event?  If you happen to love Sony and want to support, like you were watching your favorite sports team, then it might be fun.  If you happen to want to see what Sony has up its manufacturing sleeve, especially with all the Z3 and Z3 compact leaks recently, then it could be a whole lot of fun, and a great showcase of some definitely great devices.

With the date out of the way and in or on your calendar(s), let’s look at the devices that will reportedly be announced and shown off by Sony at their IFA press conference.  First, there’s the likely-to-be-released flagship, the Xperia Z3.  The device has leaked out in full photo shootouts on all sides, so we essentially know what it looks like.  For those who don’t already know Sony’s standard device design by now, it’s essentially a glass-faced device with either metal or plastic edges, with two or three plastic, waterproofing flaps, which allow the device its SD card, charging, and SIM openings while maintaining the IP67 water and dust resisting abilities of the Xperia family.  The Z3 will reportedly have a 1080p, 5.15-inch LCD panel, backed by a quad-core Snapdragon 801, running happily at 2.4 Ghz, with 3 GB of RAM to smooth the experience out, and 16 GB of internal (and expandable, likely) storage.  The software will doubtlessly be Kit Kat, Android 4.4 (specifically 4.4.4, actually), and you’ll have a 20.7-and-2.1 megapixel back-and-front camera setup.  This looks to be a slight but very nice upgrade from the Xperia Z2, so it will definitely be worth seeing at IFA.

Next, there’s the Xperia Z3 Compact, which is also rumored to be shown to us normal people, at Sony’s press conference and IFA itself.  The Compact, as with the Mini and Compact branded devices of the current day, especially the Z1 Compact.  The Z3 compact, which we covered a bit ago, looks to be a vast improvement over the Z1 Compact, actually.  It will have, apparently, the exact same specifications of the Z3 at its full size, but just be using a 4.6-inch display.  What does this mean for us?  It means if you want a ‘Mini’ or Compact device, then you don’t have to settle for lousy, sub-par, ‘last year-worthy’ specifications.  An 801 processor, 3 gigs of RAM, the regular camera array (as described before), and the usual toughening to water and dust are what we have to look forward to on Sony’s latest ‘little brother’ Compact device.

But wait, there’s more.  We heard not too long ago that Sony would be announcing the latest Xperia flagship and Compact alongside their latest attachable lens-style camera, the rumored DSC-QX30, featuring a supposed 30-times zoom lens.  The lens will hopefully show up along with the latest Xperia phones on September 3 going into IFA 2014 in Berlin.  Hopefully, you might also be showing up for some top-notch happenings and news from and about the event.
