Are you one of those people who find today’s flagships to be too big and would love a relatively smaller device carrying the flagship specs? Well, Sony’s Xperia Z1 Compact smartphone was such a device. Xperia Z1 specifications placed in a much smaller body with a 4.3″ 720p screen on the front. That phone was released in January this year and is still a great choice for some, sporting a Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and a 20.7MP rear-facing camera which is utilizing Sony’s Exmor RS image sensor. Despite the fact this device is only a half year old, we’ve seen several leaks showing all kinds of Xperia Z3 Compact details (Sony skipped a generation and will go straight to the Z3 Compact model). We’ve seen alleged CAD (Computer-Aided Design) images showing us the dimensions of the Xperia Z3 Compact along with the leaked specifications and pictures of the device itself.
Leaks keep on coming though, so this time around we have some additional images of the device showing off its camera, various ports and buttons which will reportedly be included. First thing you’ll notice is a 1/2.3″ 20.7MP Exmor RS camera on the back alongside a LED Flash. This seems to be the same sensor that was used in the Xperia Z1 Compact, which was and still is a great camera. Sony will probably improve it in some way for the Z1 Compact’s successor. The devices on these images are covered up by plastic cases and whoever took the pictures doesn’t want us to see the whole thing. Besides the camera you can see a slew of ports on the device (like in the current-gen Xperia Compact device), MicroSD card slot, MicroUSB charging port, a magnetic connector and a 3.5mm audio jack. On the right side of the device you’ll find a camera shutter key, volume rockers and a power/lock button just like in the Xperia Z1 Compact.
This device is rumored to feature a 4.6″ (720 or 1080p) display, a Snapdragon 801 SoC and 3GB of RAM along with the mentioned 20.7MP Exmor RS camera. Sony is expected to announce the device at this year’s IFA (or a few days earlier) in Berlin this September.
