Google's Larry Page and Sergey Brin Take the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS Awareness

You may have heard lately, that a lot of CEOs, Celebrities and even athletes have been getting iced lately. The reason? To raise awareness for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or ALS. We’ve seen the likes of Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, T-Mobile‘s John Legere, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Twitter CEO Dick Costelo, Facebook’s Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerbergand plenty of others do the same thing. Now Google’s two co-founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin have also accepted the Ice Bucket Challenge. With the Ice Bucket Challenge, you basically dump a bucket of ice and water over your head, then you challenge someone else to the Ice Bucket Challenge.

For those unaware, ALS is a neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. So it’s a pretty serious disease, even though it’s not as popular as some of the others out there. But this is part of why the Ice Bucket Challenge was created. To spread awareness for ALS. You can check out the ALS website for more information as well.

The ALS released the following statement about the Ice Bucket Challenge in a press release a few days ago:

“We have never seen anything like this in the history of the disease,” said Barbara Newhouse, President and CEO of The ALS Association. “We couldn’t be more thrilled with the level of compassion, generosity and sense of humor that people are exhibiting as they take part in this impactful viral initiative.”

The Ice Bucket Challenge is something I’d definitely do for ALS awareness. But who would I challenge? That’d be a tough one. What about the rest of you? Who would you challenge and would you do the Ice Bucket Challenge? Good thing it’s summer and not winter, at least in this part of the world, right? Let us know  in the comments down below.
