Earlier this morning the LG G3 Stylus device which some have been speculating to be a possible Galaxy Note competitor, was reported by Korean news sources to have less than comparable specs to the Note 4 so it looks like it’ll be more of a mid ranger similar to the LG G3 Beat instead of a direct competitor to the next device in Samsung’s second flagship line. While that may or may not enrage or excite some of you, those who are curious as to when this device might actually release should be pleased to know that the device has recently been approved by the FCC, having shown up on a filing at their website earlier which means that we should be seeing this device hit sometime in the near future, possibly sometime in the early fall? The FCC document filing lists the device as the LGD690n, which was reported to be the LG G3 Stylus a couple of months ago when it initially leaked out.
As shown in the document image, the LG G3 Stylus has multiple variants, which will likely be models meant for launch in different regions and possibly carriers. The LG D690n is also joined by model variant LG D693n. The device was said to have only 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, and is thought to potentially be sporting a display resolution of 1080p but the zauba listing shows the device resolution as 1280 x 720 in a 5.7-inch size according to the source, so we could be looking at a 720p display instead, although neither is really confirmed. The CPU is listed as a 1.3GHz quad-core processor so we could be looking at a Snapdragon 400, and the cameras are likely a 1.3MP VGA on the front with an 8MP rear facing camera.
The LG G3 Stylus is said to be running Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat out of the box, so at least the software will be mostly current, that is if it releases before Google launches the Android L version of the software to Nexus devices later this fall. Confirmations on most of the specs haven’t yet been released but with the FCC approval showing up at the official FCC website a launch really can’t be too far off. Now we just need to know exact dates and prices of what this device will cost.
