Sony Xperia T3 to Bell on August 7 for $399.95 No Contract [Update: Now Available]

Just last week we wrote that the Sony Xperia T3 was on its way to Canada and would wind up on Bell, Virgin Mobile, SaskTel and Sony stores in Canada sometime in August.  However, there was no exact date or price given by the Sony Press release – thanks to a tipster from our source, with a picture of the actual Bell internal document, we now know that Bell will beginning selling the Xperia T3 on August 7 in Black, White or Purple on a no-term contract of $399.95.  For those of you that use a two-year contract, you can expect to pay anywhere from $0 – $50.  We expect that Virgin and SaskTel will also make the Xperia T3 available on August 7 as well.

Although the Sony Xperia T3 is unquestionably a mid-range smartphone, it still retains the traditional Sony look of the beautiful Xperia Z series – smartly crafted with a stainless steel frame and only 7mm thick.  The large, 5.3-inch HD TRILUMINOS display has a 1280 x 720 resolution.  It is sporting a Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz, packing 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage that you can add an additional 32GB to, via the microSD card slot.  The Xperia is powered by a 2,500mAh battery and is running Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.  Size wise, it is 150.7 x 77 x 7mm and will weigh in at 148 grams.

I saved the camera for last, as Sony really prides itself in that area, offering a wide variety of options, and the Xperia T3 is no exception.  The main camera is 8MP and comes with autofocus, image stabilizer and an LED flash.  The secondary, or front-facing camera clocks in at 1.1MP and can be used for decent video chatting and for taking selfies.  It features Sony’s Exmor sensor, HDR and SteadyShot.  Sony also included built-in apps such as AR Effect, Timeshift Burst, Creative Effects and Portrait Retouch.

As an added bonus, Sony will give each purchaser of the Xperia T3, a free trial of Music Unlimited services, which they claim will give you access to “millions” of songs to listen to while traveling, working out or commuting to work.  Sony’s press release did not give a timeframe of how long they would extend the offer nor how long the free trial will last – you will have to check with Sony. Please hook up with us on our Google+ Page and let us know if you will be picking up this great mid-range device from Bell or your own carrier…as always, we would love to hear from you.

Update: Now available from Bell for $49.95 on a two-year contract, or $399.95 off contract. The Sony Store also has it for $499.99
