Hats are a common commodity for many people. Nowadays, people just simply wear a hat for the stylish looks. But with new technology and a trend that has been lasting for years, the hat has taken a new route. Taiwanese computer company Acer has made what they call, the “Selfie-Hat.” Yes, a selfie hat, how ridiculous does that sound? We all heard about the selfie-phone but this is just something out of the ordinary. As described by the company, the Selfie Hat is a “one-of-a-kind couture.” Now do not worry, you are not the only one lost here, we’re all questioning this strange phenomenon. Acer’s UK division were the people that worked on creating the hat along side fashion designer Christian Cowan-Sanluis. Now before we move on to the looks, lets check out the hardware which should take just a minute. That little screen that you see hanging off the side of the hat is an integrated Acer Iconia A-1 840 tablet. That tablet is what the person wearing the hat will use to take their selfies. Now since it’s a tablet, you’re not singled down to just taking selfies, you can access apps such as facebook and Instagram to upload your selfies.
Now moving on to the looks of the device. The pink, glittery sombrero looking hat looks like something Lady Gaga would wear. Really, I could see her on the red carpet snapping all sorts of selfies with other famous celebrities. Her selfies would probably be more epic than when Ellen DeGeneres tried to pull off the biggest selfie at the Oscars. In addition to the large pink sombrero, Acer has a mini case sombrero to tag along with the glittery hat. The hat has the ability to spin around 360 degrees for the best angles. During Acer’s press release they said “Whilst slowly moving the screen from left to right, not only does the selfie sombrero help the user finding their best angle, but also how to understand lighting, how various expressions can change your face and ultimately create the perfect social media moment.”
So if this “Selfie-Hat” interests you, you can see it up close and personal at the Christian Cowan-Sanluis fashion presentation at London Fashion Week. The event takes place September 12th and interested buyers can experience the “Selfie-Hat.” There isn’t any word on pricing but if we had to guess, it’ll lean towards the pricy side. Let us know what you think about this hat, is this innovation or what?
