Battle of the Bezels: Huawei Ascend Mate 7 vs LG G3

I’ve been using the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 for about a week now. And I really like this smartphone, even though it’s a big device. It’s actually somewhat small for being a 6.1-inch display. It comes down to the bezels. And it feels like I’ve been saying this since the LG G2 launched last year. LG really started the #BezelBattle, Motorola slimmed down their bezels, but not as much as LG. And now Huawei’s bezels on the Ascend Mate 7 are even smaller.

Stacking these two monster side-by-side, the Ascend Mate 7 is only a little bit taller and wider. But it does have a 0.6-inch larger display. And it actually has smaller bezels than the LG G3. Which most people will probably call BS on, but the fact of the matter is that the Ascend Mate 7 has about 2% more screen to the front of the device than the LG G3 does. Which used to be the leader in that category. For a lot of people, the bezel may not matter, but when you can fit a 5.5-inch display into a 5.1 or even a 5.2-inch body, it matters. Because that means you’ve got more screen in less space. And who doesn’t want that?

I’ve got some pictures below, where you can see the side bezels, top and bottom bezels side by side. It’s a little tough to tell in pictures, but the Ascend Mate 7 really does have super narrow bezels, which is awesome. We’ve got more content on the Ascend Mate 7 coming up later this week, and then the full review coming this weekend.
