Along with the MX4 smartphone, Meizu also launched a new version of their very own Android-based Flyme OS, version 4. Meizu completely redesigned the user interface when it comes to Flyme, it is way more flat now and along with the redesign they added a bunch of features in there. Flyme 4.0 is also amongst the first skinned Android UI’s to get the 4.4.4 KitKat update, next to Samsung, Sony and LG. Meizu added lots of animations in this iteration of Flyme, motion blur is one of their most used effects and a slew of first party and third party icons have been redesigned by the China-based company in order to align with the design of the UI itself. They redesigned over 1000 third-party application icons, 100+ notification icons, 500+ website icons plus additional 700+ of other icons.
As I said, Flyme 4.0 brings some features / applications along with it. “Flyme Reading” is one of those apps and it offers coverage from over 100 content providers to make sure you always have something to read. “Security Center” is yet another new app which offers protection against viruses and other sorts of malware along with the memory management of your phone, cache cleaning and so on. “Voice Assistant” has also been added and it supports over 15 000 questions according to Meizu. Meizu also offers up to 40TB of cloud storage which is more than enough for all your storage needs, we actually thought this was some sort of a mistake at first. Fourth iteration of Flyme also has an update keyboard or as the call it “input method” which increases word accuracy up to 80% according to Meizu.
This OS also offers various camera features, like “Real Beauty Mode” and a two-dimensional code scan function. “Game Center” and “Personalization Center” have also been added for all your gaming and theming needs. Song library now offers over 6 000 000 music titles and along with that Meizu offers a new music player in Flyme, or shall I say redesigned one. Video section also got some attention from Meizu and it now offers more content. Online calling, messaging services, reading mode in Flyme’s browser and many other features can be found in the new version of the OS.
