With all the recent launch talk of the big flagship devices like Samsung’s Note 4 or Sony’s Z3 it is easy to forget how important the mid-range market is to both consumers and OEMs. Not everyone can afford the latest, fastest and biggest processor driven unit and instead most consumers this year will probably be opting for something more reasonably in terms of price while also not trying to compromise (too much) on the specs. One of the companies who appreciates this factor (and market) the most is HTC who has generally tried hard to offer a decent device at a reasonable cost. Most notably was the recent HTC Desire 610 smartphone which launched back in July in the US.
In short the Desire 610 is equipped with a 4.7″ HD display with a 960 x 540p (234ppi) resolution. The device inside is loaded with a Snapdragon 400 processor (clocking at 1.2 GHz) and 1 GB RAM. In terms of memory the device offers 8 GB internal storage and the standard micro SD capabilities (up to 128 GB). The rear facing camera is an 8MP shooter while the front facing offers 1.3 MP. The device comes loaded with Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) and a removable 2040mAh battery. All in all, not a bad little device and especially when considering the launch price was set at $199.99 off-contact.
Since the launch of the 610 back in July it has solely been available on the AT&T network although this now looks set to change. It now seems that the Desire 610 may very well be on its way to Verizon. A document noted on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) under the Desire 610’s model number (OP90300) has been listed with support now for Verizon. Unfortunately, there are no further details noted as to when the device will actually be available in-store, but the listing at least does indicate that it will be soon. Generally speaking, once something is listed on the FCC it normally is not long before it is seen hitting the market. So if you are looking for a reasonably priced but good enough budget to mid-range phone and do not want to use AT&T’s network then keep an eye out for the Desire 610 on Verizon.
