Any Meizu fans out there? Of course, there is. Well, it looks like there’s some good news for you, as long as you live in China. From 10 am this morning (in China) consumers were able to walk into any of the 600 Meizu stores nationwide and pick up the Meizu MX4 as the device has embarked on its general release. Typically, Chinese companies have recently been under criticism for their lack of sufficient device quantities at launch. This has somewhat turned into a trend with the companies preferring to claim they have ‘sold-out’ rather then making sure all who wants one can get one. So the news Meizu are offering a standard released will be very welcomed by Chinese consumers and especially considering Meizu recently announced on Weibo pre-orders for the MX4 had exceeded 7.7 million units.
Interested? Well if so here is a quick rundown of the device. The MX4 is phablet sized with a 5.4″ (5.36″ to be exact) screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1152p. Inside the device is loaded with a MediaTek MT6595 Octa-core processor. In addition, the device provides 2 GB RAM, a 20.7 MP rear camera (with a Sony IMX 200 sensor) and a 5 MP front shooter. In terms of storage the device is expected to be released in variants of 16, 32 or 64GB internal storage capacity. If battery matters than the MX4 will come with a 3100 mAh battery (non-removable) and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) although with Meizu’s Flume 4.0 OS on top.
The general release is for the standard grey colored MX4 although Meizu had advised there will also be a limited number of the white versions also available in stores. If you are in China and can’t get to your nearest Meizu flagship store than it is also being reported the MX4 is also available in Suning Appliance stores (one of the countries biggest electrical chains). In addition, you will be able to buy the device online from Jindong Mall (JD.com) who are reportedly the official online seller of the MX4. Lastly, the most important aspect is the price. The device is on sale for 1799 Yuan ($290) for the 16 GB version.
