While there is still no official announcement from Google on the new Nexus, the Nexus 6, there have been plenty of leaks, and some more in the recent weeks behind us, that the new Nexus phone would be made by Motorola, and that it would essentially be a bigger version of the Moto X 2014 version. Despite the displeased emotions that some were probably feeling when 9 To 5 Google reported the details about the Nexus 6 coming with a 5.9-inch display, many people were able to keep their hopes alive about the possibility of a smaller screen Nexus device being made available this year which would give consumers some variation in choice past the initial color, and storage space options that we’re used to seeing.
Thanks to the recent information which is confirming some details about the upcoming phone from Google and Motorola, the next Nexus will indeed be called the Nexus 6 and it appears that it is actually going to come with a 5.9-inch display, as depicted by the render below done by Android Police. Not just any display however, but a 5.9-inch QHD display, which means that it will be 2k like we’d heard rumors about, and the screen will be 496 ppi(pixels per inch). There is nothing to suggest that a smaller Nexus device is also in the works, however there is no hard evidence that Google is not making one either. With that being said, the likelihood of a new Nexus option that comes with the smaller rumored(hoped for)5.2-inch display is small at best, especially since we’ve really heard nothing concrete about it.
Besides the display size, we’re learning that the Nexus 6 will just as reported before, be a larger version of the Moto X 2014, and house the same 13MP rear facing camera with the LED flash ring surrounding the sensor. As previously mentioned in past articles, the phone will in fact have the power button and volume rocker sitting lower on the sides than that of the Moto X, which is obvious as to why now that we know the screen size is closer to 6-inches. It’s also being reported that it will come with the same metal frame found on the Moto X, the same 2MP front camera, and apparently come with the Moto X’s turbo charging capabilities. It’s also being stated to come with dual stereo speakers, running Android 5.0 and come with a 3200mAh battery on the inside, which seems like plenty of battery capacity to account for the screen size. So there you have it, the Nexus 6 will have a larger 5.9-inch QHD display, and will basically be a bigger, Moto X with many of the same attributes and features. It won’t be long now, and we could possibly this phone get a release very soon.
