People who appreciate pure Android just can’t wait for Google to launch the new iteration of their Nexus smartphone. We’ve seen leaked information when it comes to this phone, though not the phone itself. Codename of the device is allegedly “Shamu”, which goes hand in hand with Google’s previous Nexus device codenames, and Motorola is allegedly the device’s OEM. It seems like Google wants to prolong Nexus 5’s life by introducing a new storage model alongside an upcoming Nexus 6 / Nexus X. According to TK Tech News, source which has been incredibly active lately, Google will introduce a 64GB model of their Nexus 5 smartphone which is still Google’s flagship and will be until this year’s iteration of Nexus shows up on stage. This might not be a bad idea in the end, Nexus 5 is still a great phone and a 64GB model with an acceptable price could actually get people to buy it despite the fact it will be at least a year old at that point.
Nexus X we’ve mentioned is expected to launch at Halloween, or a few days before / after it. So if this rumors pans out we’ll see the 64GB Nexus 5 launched at that very same time. Nexus X on the other hand will probably be manufactured by Motorola and will sport either a 5.2-inch or a 5.9-inch screen, maybe even both. Rumors have been going back and forth between the two sizes and then ultimately said that we’ll see both of those launched, though I’m not so sure that will happen. I’d rather see a 5.2-inch model personally, how about you? Anyhow, according to a leaked Antutu benchmark, Nexus X will sport a 5.2-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display along with 3GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera. Snapdragon 805 quad-core chip will allegedly power this thing with Adreno 420 taking care of the graphics. 2.1-megapixel camera will be located at the front of the device with the upcoming Android “L” to come pre-installed on the device. I’m sure we’ll see plenty more rumors until the device(s) finally get unveiled though, so stay tuned.
