At the beginning of September Samsung hosted their newest launch event, Samsung Unpacked. Most of the attention was on the Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge although Samsung was also released a number of devices including the Galaxy Alpha. The last big Galaxy launch was back in March when the Galaxy S5 hit the market. One of the biggest complaints of the S5 device was its plasticky feel and lack of a metal frame. As such, most of the devices launched this year contained a metal frame. In spite of the Note 4 receiving most of the attention it is worth noting the Galaxy Alpha was Samsung’s first attempt at a metal frame device. In addition to its metal frame the Galaxy Alpha also comes with a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display providing a 1280 x 720 resolution, In addition the device comes loaded with a Quad-core processor (clocking at 1.8 GHz), 2GB of RAM and an 1860 mAh battery. The device also comes equipped with a 12MP rear camera and a 2.1MP front shooter. Not forgetting the device also comes with a fingerprint sensor, is waterproof and weights 115g in weight. For the users who need a claim to fame the Alpha is only 6.7mm in thickness, making the device one of Samsung’s slimmest ever phones.
With all the hype surrounding the Note 4 and Note Edge it is understandable one might forget about the limited but stylish Alpha. Either way if you live in the UK the device is now available on Vodafone. If you are interested than it is worth noting that the Galaxy Alpha is available on a variety of different plan structures. You can currently purchase the device free on the Red 4G plan which will set you back £43.50 per month (unlimited everything). If you are not interested in all the bells and whistles then you can get the device (free) on 3G for as little as £38.50 per month with unlimited talk. text and 1GB data. The absolute cheapest monthly plan is £26.50 per month on 3G for 100 talk minutes, unlimited text and 100 MB data but the device will set you back a cool £199.99.
