We already covered a few of the more important specs in the announcement about the ZTE ZMAX, T-Mobile’s upcoming phablet from ZTE that was just announced earlier, but now we’ll give you the full specs breakdown to show just exactly what this device is working with. As stated in the announcement, the ZTE ZMAX packs a 5.7-inch TFT LCD display with 1280 x 720 HD resolution and 258 PPI. It’s running Android 4.4.2 right out of the box and is carrying a very minimal and lightweight ZTE skin on top, so not quite stock, but nearly stock according to ZTE. Connectivity wise it supports all of T-Mobile’s networks with GSM bands 850/900/1800/1900MHz, UMTS/HSPA bands 850/AWS/1900/2100MHZ, and it also supports LTE Cat 3 and 4 with bands 2, 4, 7, and 12.
It’s got an embedded battery which means no removing this bad boy and replacing it through a hot swap should you run out of juice, although that’s becoming more common on devices these days so we expect users won’t care too much, especially since it’s working with a 3400mAh capacity. It supports WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n(2.4GHz and 5GHz)with WiFi direct/display, WiFi Calling DLNA, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. The ZTE ZMAX is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core MSM8926 CPU clocked at 1.2GHz. The graphics are run by an Adreno 305 GPU, and it has 2GB of RAM to handle running tasks. Internal memory is set at 16GB with expandable storage up to 32GB through the microSD card slot. It’s also relatively thin with dimensions set at 6.4″ x 3.3″ x 0.35″ and it weighs just 6.7 oz.
For imaging the ZTE ZMAX carries an 8MP auto-focus rear facing camera and a 1.6MP front facing camera for video chat and selfies. When it comes to video the rear camera records at 1080p and 30fps. It also sports dual-noise suppression and Dolby DM3 for higher quality sound. The display is covered by Gorilla Glass 3.0 so even if you happen to drop it, the display should hold up against scratches and cracks a little better, and it’ll certainly be fine in your pocket with change or keys.
