Xperia E3 Could Be A Part Of Sony's IFA Lineup

It seems like Sony is getting ready a slew of devices to share with us at their pre-IFA press event. Sony has already teased its Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact smartphones as well as their Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. Not only that, but there have been reports claiming that the Japan-based company will also unveil the Android Wear-based Sony Smartwatch 3 as well as their upcoming SmartBand Talk fitness tracker wearable.

According to the latest report by 9to5Google, Sony is getting ready yet another smartphone to showcase at their event in a few days. An affordable Xperia E3 is expected to make an appearance there as well. The Xperia E3 will be a direct successor to Xperia E1. The device will reportedly sport a 4.8-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display and 1.5GB or 2GB of RAM. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz will allegedly power up the device. Android 4.4 KitKat will come pre-installed and the device should cost between $200 and $300. Unlike Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, this device won’t be water or dust resistant. As a side note, Sony’s upcoming flagship is expected to feature a 5.2-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) Triluminous display and 3GB of RAM. The device will allegedly be powered by a Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor and will sport 16GB of internal storage (expandable via MicroSD card). 20.7-megapixel camera will reportedly be the device’s main shooter with a 2-megapixel camera being located at the front side of the device.

The Xperia Z3 Compact will carry the same specifications according to reports, except for the screen and battery size. This device is expected to sport a 4.6-inch 720p or 1080p display. Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact is in the same boat, though this device will have a different main camera as well. This tablet will reportedly feature an 8-inch 1080p panel on the front and an 8-megapixel snapper on the back. All three of these devices will sport some sort of IP certification for water and dust resistance, Sony has already teased the underwater capability of the upcoming device(s), unfortunately we don’t know which one. Maybe all of them will be able to go 2 meters under water as Sony teased, if not, at least some of them will be able to do that. As I said, Sony has a lot of devices to share with us at their event which will take place on September 3rd. We’ll let you know as soon as we know more details, so stay tuned.
