Everybody seems to be waiting for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 to arrive – it was revealed at the IFA Berlin in early September, but no pricing or exact availability was announced, although Samsung did say they expected it to hit over 140 countries by the end of October. With the threat of Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus wreaking havoc with Samsung’s stock prices, they decided to speed things up a bit and are making the Note 4 available in its home country of South Korea as we speak. For the rest of us, Samsung was nice enough to provide us with a “carpet” of the world and colored dots to translate a timeline of their release dates and it looks like North America, which includes Canada, of course, will be getting that Galaxy Note 4 loving on October 17.
Bell, Rogers, TELUS, Koodo Mobile, MTS, SaskTel, Videotron and WIND Mobile will all carry “The Next Big Thing” when it finally does arrive in Canada. What has become SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) with the carriers – nobody is budging on what the price will be for the Note 4 or what colors they will offer. We were told in the States that it would run the same as the Galaxy Note 3, which was $299 on a two-year contract or term, however the outright purchase price varies widely. Verizon says $699, while AT&T says $825 and Amazon claims $899, so let us hope that Canada’s telecoms seek the ‘lower’ road when it comes to pricing. Best Buy and Future Shop are already taking pre-orders with a $50 deposit, but list no selling price.
The looks of the Galaxy Note 3 to the Galaxy Note 4 is a little more radial a change in looks than from the Galaxy S4 to Galaxy S5 – and when I “more radical,” read that as minuscule. While keep the same basic shape, Samsung did improve the Note 4 with a solid metal frame with sculptured corners to help protect it in a fall. They added a new faux leather looking back without the faux stitching, which makes the whole look and feel less faux…yeah, I know. Just those couple of subtle changes does make for a nicer, more well-built looking device…but in the end, only you can decide. Please hook up with us on our Google+ Page and let us know if you have pre-ordered your Galaxy Note 4 or are you planning to get one of their new phablets…as always, we would love to hear from you.
