Elephone is a Chinese manufacturer which put its main focus on smartphones. This company has been making rather solid well-built devices thus far and consumers started to recognize that. Last month though, this manufacturer has introduced something basically nobody expected, company’s very own Android TV Box. This was odd not only because it’s an Android TV Box, something that this manufacturer usually doesn’t make, but because it looked weird and had some extra functionality that nobody would expect an Android TV Box to have.
This device looks like a spray paint canister, or as some people pointed out, resembles the new Mac Pro in a way. The device also has a motion sensing HD camera on top of it which can be used as a home monitoring system. This device can notify you via SMS or can even stream video to your smartphone when something out of the ordinary happens at home / the camera detects movement. These are some nice features packed into this device for sure. Anyhow, if you take a look at the gallery below, you’ll notice a few pictures of this device taken by GizChina while they were unboxing the device. These images should give you a better look at the design of this device as well as a ton of ports which are located on it. As you can see remote controller is, of course, also a part of the package.
Elephone’s Android TV Box is powered by a Rockchip RK3188 processor while it comes with 1GB of RAM. Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS is pre-installed and is running this whole thing while the device costs only $79.99, which is rather affordable considering the added features. For those of you living outside of China, don’t you worry. Elephone has partnered up with DX.com in order to offer this device internationally. For those of you interested, follow this link and get your own Elephone Android TV Box. This sure is a weird move by Elephone, though I have to say I’m a bit intrigued and would like to test this thing out, how about you?
