Meizu held a press conference in Beijing yesterday and this Chinese company had lots to say. Meizu announced partnership with Alibaba, which means part of YunOS will be integrated with Flyme OS, mainly some security and cloud features. Meizu didn’t give out all the details just yet, but we’ll quite probably see this happen in the next big iteration of Flyme. Other than announcing that, Meizu also talked about MX4 sales and how the demand has exceeded expectations and left Meizu deal with some production issues. Luckily the company managed to get everything in order and the problems weren’t as big as it was expected. Some units were shipped later than they should, but all in all, it all went great according to Meizu. So great, in fact, that the company decided to announce 2 additional MX4 versions, MX4 Silverwing and Gold. Gold version is basically just a gold colored MX4 while the Silverwing one comes with a solid aluminum frame build. Both of these devices carry the same specifications as the original Meizu MX4 though.
We’ve already notified you about MX4 Silverwing’s availability and the Gold version is now available for pre-order as well. If you live in China you can get this device for 1799 Yuan ($294), same as the original MX4. Pre-orders are available from Tmall (linked down below) and even Taobao I think. Neither of these devices are currently available outside of China, but Meizu did say that they will be at some point. As I said, both of these devices carry the original MX4’s specs, which means they feature a 5.36-inch 1080p (1920 x 1152) display along with 2GB of RAM for all your multitasking needs and 16, 32 or 64GB of in-built storage. MediaTek’s MT6595 octa-core processor is powering these devices along with PowerVR Series 6 GPU. 20.7-megapixel shooter is located at the back of them along with a dual LED, dual tone flash. On the front of all MX4 devices, you can find a 5-megapixel snapper which should come in handy if you like to take a selfie here and there or you use the video call feature of your device. Android 4.4.4 KitKat comes pre-installed with Meizu’s Flyme 4 OS on top of it.
