HTC Desire Eye Exclusively Available On Three In The UK

Now that HTC’s Double Exposure event is out of the way it is back to business. Yes, they released the RE camera but enough about that. This is about the HTC Desire Eye. Although we have the detailed specs of the device we know very little at the moment about availability, release dates and prices.

However, one snippet of information coming down the wire will be of particular interest to UK readers. We are already hearing that the HTC Desire Eye will be exclusively available on the Three network in the UK. According to a report by Pocket-lint, three have confirmed to them that they will be the only UK carrier releasing the device although again prices were not given. The report did note though that buyers with Three will (in addition to the Eye) also receive all-you-can-eat data and 4G free. In addition to this, prospective customers were advised they will be able to use their new Eye in sixteen countries with no additional roaming costs. The countries listed largely consist of European countries with also the USA and Australia tacked on. To be fair with the recent changes to the European laws on roaming this is not exactly an ‘Eye Only’ deal but nevertheless Three seem to want customers to know. Three also did advise Pocket-lint that they will be selling the RE as well although again prices were not provided and this certainly was not being touted as a Three exclusive.

If you need a quick recap on what’s on offer with the HTC Desire Eye then here you go. The Eye comes with a 13MP camera on the back and a 13MP camera on the front. Yes it does. In addition, the Eye comes equipped with a 5.2-inch Full HD display, 2GB RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor (clocks at 2.3GHz). You also get 16 GB internal memory and a microSD slot (128GB). The device is waterproof and comes with a bunch of sensors. Lastly, the Eye comes running on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) and powered by a 2,400mAh battery. It is also worth noting that we recently reported that the Eye seems to be performing well in (very) early benchmarks tests. This along with the decent specs just mentioned suggests the Eye will perform as well (in general) as the selfie orientated cameras. So overall this might be a good little device to go for, if you are currently in the market for a new phone. Although if you are in the UK then remember it is Three or nothing in terms of carrier choice…at least for now.
