Lenovo A8-50 Tablet Now Available in India With 8-Inch HD and Voice Calling

People talk about how many different models of devices that Samsung releases on a yearly basis – smartphones and tablets – Lenovo may actually have them beat.  The U.S. does not receive any of their smartphones and probably half the tablets they produce.  The A8-50 tablet with 3G is one such device – this line was introduced earlier this year and a Wi-Fi only version was made available in many markets, however, there is also a version with built-in 3G connectivity with voice calling capabilities.  It has just been released in India for Rs.17490, or about US$283.  Although it comes in many colors, the Midnight Blue is the only color available in India, exclusively through Flipkart – the online seller that Lenovo has an exclusive agreement with to market their devices in India.

The Lenovo A8-50 is a great tablet for those that want many features at a reasonable price.  It packs an 8-inch HD multi-touch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels.  Also on the front of the display at either end, is a pair of stereo Dolby Digital Plus speakers for great sound – especially when watching a movie or playing a game.  The on board processor is a MediaTek 8382 quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz.  The A8-50 comes with 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot to add an additional 32GB of storage to the device – making it easy to store all of your pictures and short videos directly on the device.

The A8-50 has a 5MP main camera with built-in zoom, but no flash, as well as a 2MP front-facing camera for selfies or video chatting.  Power is provided by a 4200mAh battery and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean that is upgradable to Android 4.4 KitKat.  It has a single SIM card slot with 3G connectivity and supports voice calling as well.  It comes with the usual Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and 3G.  The A8-50 measures 217 x 136 x 8.9mm and weighs in at 360 grams…or almost 13 ounces.
