About a week before IFA, LG announced the launch of the LG G3 Stylus. It doesn’t take any significant stretch of the imagination to guess what this device is. Yes, it’s another member/variant of the popular LG G3 family and yes, it comes with a stylus. However in spite of this being a G3 variant the specs are a little underwhelming compared to the G3. The G3 Stylus comes with the same sized screen measuring 5.5″ but the screen is only a qHD IPS display with a much reduced resolution of 960 x 540. Inside the device comes with a 1.3GHz Octa-core processor (quite likely a MediaTek) and just 1GB RAM. The device does offer a 13MP rear camera while the front shooter is a basic 1.3MP camera. The storage is also reduced compared to the standard G3 with the Stylus version offering 8GB internal storage. Of course, the device does include a microSD slot (supporting up to 32GB) so this is not a huge issue. There are no major issues though with the battery with the Stylus coming with a respectable 3,000 mAh battery. The device comes running on Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) and not forgetting its biggest selling point, comes with a stylus pen
With specs like this it won’t be too much of a surprise to hear this is a mid-range device and being targeted at the lucrative emerging 3G markets. With this in mind, this morning the G3 Stylus has made its way onto the official LG website in India and priced. At present the device is listed locally for Rs 21,500 which equates to just shy of $350. The G3 Stylus is available in three color options – white, black and Gold and comes as standard with dual-SIM functionality which is generally quite typical of phone variants destined for India.
So there you go, the LG G3 Stylus has arrived in India. If you can’t wait (or don’t want to pay a premium price) for the Note 4 but instead fancy a decent (enough) mid-range device with a stylus.
