Motorola Bringing Android Lollipop to Moto X (2013) and Later!

Motorola has just informed everyone of their upgrade plans for Android Lollipop. Now we already knew that they were looking for a repeat of last year, which was to get the new version of Android out to their phones before everyone else, even the Nexus. And it appears that they are serious about it this year. Motorola has already informed us which of their phones will be getting Android Lollipop. Those are the Moto X (1st and 2nd Gen), Moto G (1st and 2nd Gen), Moto G with 4G LTE, Moto E, Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx, and Droid Mini.

So no real surprises there. We basically expected all of those models to get updated to Android Lollipop. However, they did not let us know when we would see these updates. We’ll likely start seeing them roll out next month for certain models. Most likely starting with the Moto X (2014) since it’s the newest one. Hopefully, they’ll be launching the DROID Turbo with Android Lollipop. That would be really nice, actually.

Motorola also stated “Please stay tuned for more information on timing and other products, pending the public release and working with our various partners. And, you can always check for the latest on your specific device by going to our software upgrades page.” Which is always a good idea to do anyways. As these do change pretty quickly. However, as soon as we heard that OTA’s are rolling out to Motorola’s smartphones, we’ll be sure to let everyone know, as we always do.

How many of you are excited to get your hands on some Android Lollipop on the Moto X, Moto G, Moto E or the 2013 lineup of DROIDs on Verizon? What about those picking up the Nexus 6 in a few weeks? Be sure to let us know in the comments down below.
