Motorola's DROID Turbo On Verizon Starts At $199, Avaialble From October 30th

Verizon Wireless and Motorola lifted the curtain on the brand new Droid Turbo this morning, a kevlar or ballistic nylon coated beast that brings some real style and power to the world of Android devices this fall. It features a whole lot of awesome specifications, and it doesn’t just put up a great set of hardware, it looks good. It comes in either black or red kevlar backing, or a black ballistic nylon. What might capture most people’s attention though is the ability to take 21MP camera shots, and use the phone for a full two days if the battery lives up to the boasted battery capacity that Verizon and Motorola are claiming.

So now that we know all about the Motorola Droid Turbo officially, the next question might be when can you get your hands on one? there won’t  be much of a wait, as Verizon states that the device will be available for purchase starting October 30th, which is just two days from now, and it will start at a contract price of just $199. The new Droid Turbo is XLTE ready, and it comes in three flavors for the 32GB model of the device. Metallic Black and metallic Red which are both the kevlar models, and the Black Ballistic Nylon. It also comes in a 64GB model in the Black Ballistic Nylon, and will be $249 on a contract. The 32GB model and the 64GB model of the turbo are both also available via the edge program which will see the devices cost $25 a month and $27  month respectively.

Verizon is giving away a handful of perks to customers who purchase the device too, starting off with $100 back to customers who buy the Droid Turbo and trade in their old smartphone with a new 2-year activation. Only good working smartphones need apply. Verizon is also waiving upgrade and activation fees for anyone who purchases the Droid Turbo between the 30th and the end of the year, with those fees being credited to the bill and showing up within two billing cycles. For the clumsy group, Verizon and Motorola also have you covered on damage. Similar to HTC’s Advantage program, Verizon is letting customers who damage the screen on their new Droid Turbo within the two year contract, swap it out for free, but that can only be done once so it’s still best to avoid this situation if possible. The Droid Turbo will also be upgradeable to Android 5.0 Lollipop, although there was no mention from Verizon on when exactly that may be as the software itself hasn’t even launched yet technically. Other notable features with the Droid Turbo are centered on battery life, which we briefly mentioned above. Verizon boasts an estimated full 48 hours of battery life on a full charge, and with only a 15 minute turbo charge one can keep the phone running for 8 hours. That’s not bad for a quick charge before you rush out the door for the evening. There’s just two days before you can pick up your own Droid Turbo. Will you be getting it in Metallic Black, Metallic Red, or Black Ballistic Nylon and in 32GB or 64GB?
