Today has been Christmas eve for many Nexus fans as the new line of pure Android products has been announced along with Android Lollipop. From the all new powerful Google Nexus 6, to the beautifully designed Google Nexus 9, Google has blessed us with new toys that we just can’t wait to get our hands on. A newly added product to the Nexus line is the all so beautifully crafted Nexus Player. Google has just posted an official Nexus Player video that shows off the circular aesthetic and Google’s powerful voice search that is accessed via remote. The video also reminds us about the quad-core Intel Silvermont CPU that clocks in at 1.8Ghz. The bottom line is, the Nexus Player is an essential for any Android fan.
When the video ends and its all said and done, we do get a friendly reminder of what the nexus Player could have been. Right there in the grid of related video’s gives us a flashback of the Nexus Q. If you’re unfamiliar with the Nexus Q, it’s pretty much the Nexus Player but in a orb like form. Just like the freshly announced Nexus Player, the Nexus Q was designed for media streaming through Google Play Services. The sphere like shape gave the Nexus Q an outstanding look and even had an LED ring around it that would respond to music that was being played. Unlike the Nexus Player, the Nexus Q was going to run on a TI OMAP 4460 CPU.
Watching the Nexus Q video is a bit saddening due to the fact that for a few minutes you can fantasize what could have been, a beautifully crafted, cylindrical media player that came in white too. Its nice to see that Google went and revamped the design to come up with the current Nexus Player, but I’m sure there are many of us out there that wish we could have one of those fancy looking Nexus Q’s. But I can’t complain, the Nexus Player is very nice and will fill that heartbreak many of us have about the Nexus Q not coming to life.
