Google Nexus Player

Google Nexus Player Information:

The Google Nexus Player is a hockey puck-like device which is running Android TV on the inside. This device is based around Android 5.0 Lollipop and basically brings forth Android redesigned for your TV. This small device is capable of outputting all sorts of content on your TV. You also get a rather simple remote along with this device which only has a handful of buttons on it, as well as a microphone. The design of the Nexus Player is rather simple and straightforward.

The Nexus Player is powered by Intel's Atom quad-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz which ships with a PowerVR Series 6 GPU for graphics. 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage also come as part of the Nexus Player package, same can be said for the HDMI port, Wi-Fi 802.11ac MIMO and Bluetooth 4.0. The HDMI port can output 1920 x 1080 resolution @60 hertz on your TV. The 2 AAA batteries are needed for the remote controller, and they're included in the box.

Google Nexus Player Editor Rating:

The Google Nexus Player is what Google TV should have been. This device is simple looking and it's also quite simple to use, and yet it can be really useful. You can either install or sideload a ton of apps here and enjoy the content on your big TV this device is hooked up on. It has some shortcoming, of course, but considering the price point and the sheer usability of this device, we can't complain much. If you're into gaming, you can always purchase a separate Nexus Player Gamepad for that very purpose.
