Oppo Announce the N3, Complete With Snapdragon 801, 3GB Of RAM and 16MP Motorized Camera

We’ve seen tons of leaks when it comes to the Oppo N3, the device is now finally official. Oppo held an event in Singapore and announced this beast. The information we had is more or less spot on when it come to specifications of this device, same goes for some of its features. Oppo N3 features a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, interesting enough Oppo didn’t go for the 2K panel here. The device also sports 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card). This is a single SIM device, but Oppo did mention that the company will offer a dual-SIM variant in the future as well. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor which we already know is a beastly chip, though not the most powerful offering by Qualcomm.

The much talked about 16-megapixel rotating camera is also a part of the N3 package and it is motorized as we’ve suspected. The camera can track objects as they move and features a 1/2.3-inch sensor with a pixel size of 1.34 micrometer. Oppo used a Scheider Kreuznach-certified lens in order to bring forward a rather impressive camera offering, though it remains to be seen how will it perform in the end. This camera can rotate up to 206 degrees and it actually moves automatically when you’re shooting something, panoramas are a good example. Talking about panoramas, they’re shot in up to 64-megapixel resolution. Oppo has included a ton of modes here, slow shutter, ultra macro mode… while shooting in RAW format is also available.

VOOC rapid charging is also available here, just like in the Oppo Find 7. This feature lets you charge the 3,000mAh unit included from 0% to 75% battery in just 30 minutes, which is really impressive if you ask me. Notification light is also available here and it is located below the screen, Oppo calls is Notification Light 2.0. Fingerprint scanner is also available and is located at the back of the device. Android 4.4 KitKat comes pre-installed here with Oppo’s Color OS 2.0 on top of it. This is also a 4G LTE device, for those of you wondering. The handset measures 161.2—77—9.9mm and weighs 192 grams. Oppo’s N3 will cost you $649 off-contract, which is a hefty price tag for this device. The Oppo N3 will launch before the end of November in 20 markets.

Either way you look at it, this is an impressive device, but I think Oppo got the pricing wrong. $649 is a really hefty price, it reamins to be seen how well will the device sold. Do you like the Oppo N3?
