turb
I almost feel like, this is something we shouldn’t need to post. But we always get questions about it. And in fact with the DROID Turbo, you can’t actually use mobile data while in a call. Droid Life first picked up on this today, and I am also able to confirm that this doesn’t work, unfortunately. While in a call, it’ll drop down to 1x, which is basically Verizon’s 2G network. And you are still unable to do anything with mobile data. Now while you can’t use mobile data while on a call right now, you will be able to before the end of the year. As Verizon did state at their event on Tuesday that they will be pushing out the Advanced Calling 1.0 update to the DROID Turbo. Which will bring simultaneous data and voice to the DROID Turbo, among some other cool features like video calling as well.
So this is just a heads up to those looking to pick up the Motorola DROID Turbo which did go on sale today at Verizon stores. The DROID Turbo was announced on Tuesday, and we do have a review unit here. So we’ll be doing all kinds of content on the DROID Turbo and a full review pretty soon. So make sure you stay tuned. The DROID Turbo is available in ballistic nylon, black kevlar and red kevlar. It’s also available in 32GB for the kevlar backs, and 64GB for the ballistic nylon. The 32GB models are going for $199 on contract and $249 for the 64GB on contract.
How many of our readers are going to be picking up a brand new DROID Turbo here in the near future? Be sure to let us know in the comments below. It’s a really great device from Motorola, and I still see it as the Nexus 6 Mini, but with a much bigger battery.
