A tipster for our source sent a picture from the computer screen – and they don’t lie – showing that the new Sony Xperia Z3 will be making its way to Canada on October 31 at Rogers, Bell, TELUS, WIND Mobile, MTS and SaskTel. Pricing on Rogers will be $599.99 off-contract and $179.99 on a 2-year term. While the device will be available from Sony in white, black, silver-green and copper – Rogers will only be stocking the black and copper variety.
This is exciting that all of the major carriers will offer the Sony Xperia Z3 – in the U.S. only T-Mobile will be carrying the device – that way no matter what carrier you use, you will have the option to purchase the Xperia Z3. The pricing is reasonable for a Sony flagship device – I was expecting at least $200 and $800. The Z3 is a beautiful device with a rounded metal frame wrapped around its glass top and bottom – comfortable to hold and beautiful to look at.
The Sony Xperia Z3 sports a 5.2-inch Full HD IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and 424 pixels-per-inch (PPI). The processor is the venerable Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core clocked at 2.5GHz. For memory, it is packing 3GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, but it does have room for an additional 128GB via a microSD card. One of its best features is in the camera area – the main camera is a 20.7MP, 25mm wide-angle lens with auto focus and LED Flash and the front-facing camera (FFC) is 2.2MP for video chatting and selfies. Powering the entire Xperia Z3 is a 3100mAh battery that should easily get you through the day. It measures 146 x 72 x 7.3mm and weighs in at 152 grams.
The Xperia Z3 is IP65/IP68 certified dust and water resistant so take a picture or video underwater with no trouble. It also has front-facing stereo speakers, an FM Radio, NFC and is Wi-Fi Calling capable. If you are a PS4 fanatic, with the purchase of a separate controller, snap in the Xperia Z3 and it can be used for PS4 Remote Play.
