When we last heard from Samsung on Facebook, they were touting an October 17 Canadian release of their Galaxy Note 4 series. It seems that they were off by a week, and as of today, Samsung Canada has made it officially official – the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will set foot on Canadian soil on October 24. It should arrive at Rogers, Bell, TELUS, Koodo, WIND Mobile, Videotron, Eastlink and SaskTel, with others likely jumping on board after the initial release. Samsung also confirmed the two available colors – Charcoal Black and Frost White, but that is not to say that the Pink and Gold models will not eventually make their way to Canada. We know in the U.S. the Note 4 will cost $299.95 on a two-year contract and that was the price that Bell, who made the first announcement, had listed it for and we hope that it carries through for rest of our Canadian neighbors – but rumors are going around that it may be $329.99 on Rogers and TELUS, with an outright selling price of $750 – $800. We will let you know when we hear anything definite.
Paul Brannen, Executive Vice President, Mobile Solutions, Samsung Canada said, “Samsung Electronics pioneered the large-screen smartphone category through the introduction of the GALAXY Note series in 2011, and we remain the industry leader in this category. The new GALAXY Note 4 introduces the most refined Note experience to-date by featuring innovative technology including the enhanced S Penâ„¢ which allows Canadians to add more of themselves to their mobile experience.”
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 represents the fourth generation in this special lineup and this year includes a 5.7-inch Quad HD (QHD) Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and 515 pixels-per-inch (PPI), a new metal frame and sculptured edges, as well as a soft textured back for added grip and a premium look. With the camera, we are looking at an overall upgrade from 13MP to 16MP, but also the addition of Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and a 3.7MP front-facing camera (FFC) for video chatting and selfies. Better battery management and charging improvements help the Note 4 to have the power when you need it most. The S-Pen sensitivity was doubled to bring the users a true handwriting experience to a smartphone touchscreen.
