Do you remember UMi Zero by any chance? The device we wrote about recently which will be only 6.4mm thick? Here’s our previous post to refresh your memory in case you don’t remember. We have some new information regarding this upcoming smartphone. UMi is a Chinese brand in case you didn’t guess and UMi Zero reminded me instantly of Xperia phones once the render was released about half a month ago. We have some new info regarding this device, so let’s jump right in.
We bring you some new details regarding this device. According to UMi’s representatives, the device will cost $299 and will go on sale within the next few weeks, reports GizChina. Interesting price, though we still can’t comment on how affordable that is considering we don’t know this device’s specifications, only the leaked ones we’ll talk about a bit later. Another leak came from online seller Efox and it shows us a rather odd case for the UMi Zero. If you take a look at the images below you’ll see a weird Z-shaped protective case for the UMi Zero as well as the device itself. No word on the build materials of this case though, but it appears to be made out metal. It could end up being a plastic case with a metal finish though, so, who knows. According to that very same source, this device will sport MediaTek’s MT6592T octa-core processor along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB of expandable internal storage. The device will allegedly sport a 5-inch 1080p display (although previous leak said it will be 5.5-inches big). 13-megapixel camera will be located at the back of the device and it will also come with an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter. This will be a dual SIM device according to the source.
This could be a good price point for this device if we consider its specifications, though I say it again, these are only leaked specs, nothing is confirmed just yet. What do you think, would you consider buying this device if UMi somehow manages offer this device worldwide for approximately $299? I doubt that will happen, that will be its price in China, but hey, who knows.
