Soooo, how many of you are still using a flip phone? Yep, I thought so! No-one. Will that is not exactly true. You might not be using one but believe it or not there is still a market for them. This market is mainly resigned to Asia and may actually even be growing. One company who definitely seems to have a bit of a thing for flip phones or (if you prefer) clamshells is your local South Korean tech giant, Samsung. Yep, the company who brought you the Galaxy Note 4 and its strangely alluring cousin the Note Edge seems focused on resurrecting the flip phone. Last year, Samsung released the Samsung Galaxy Golden (name says it all) flip phone although this one seemed certainly to be suffering from style over substance with the flip being the key USP. Other than its bendable nature the device was rather mediocre in all other respects and specs.
Now it’s a year on and we all know Samsung find it hard to get through six months (let alone a year) without offering its users an updated version. Low-and-behold the creatively dubbed, Samsung Galaxy Golden 2. No, it’s not twice as golden but certainly is another flip phone, although that’s where its similarities to its predecessor ends. Unlike the first Golden, from what we heard a few days back this Golden shines brightly in terms of specs and actually offers a rather decent set-up. The Galaxy Golden 2 comes with a 3.9″ Super AMOLED display. Yes, this is a small display, but to make up for it the Golden 2 has two of them. Yes, there is a 3.9″ internal and external display. Inside the device comes with 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, and external microSD card slot and powered by a quad-core 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor. As well as the two screens you also get two camera consisting of a 16MP rear shooter and 3.7MP front camera.
Want to see it? Of course you do. Well down below is a sneak peek of the 2014 Samsung flip phone thanks to a few leaked images which have made it our way. Do you like it? Would you buy a flip phone? Suddenly feeling the urge to watch the Matrix again? I understand. Whatever your thoughts let them out and send them our way.
