Xiaomi has unveiled company’s MIUI 6 OS back in mid-August. This new version of Xiaomi’s OS brings tons of improvements to the system and also a redesigned UI, which resembles Apple’s iOS a whole lot, which many people have pointed out already. Anyhow, Xiaomi has released MIUI 6 beta to Chinese versions of Mi3 and Mi4 back in August and the company is now looking for beta testers in China as well. The requirements are quite specific though.
MIUI officially announced on company’s forums that it is recruiting beta testers for MIUI 6, though only for Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G. Applicants will receive their MIUI 6 beta packages on Friday afternoon according to Xiaomi. MIUI 6 is expected to reach handsets in mid-November, so this is probably the last beta testing we’ll see. This beta testing is aimed at Redmi Note 4G users only, if you have a 3G variant you’re out of luck. These are two somewhat different handset as far as specs go, so the bands of these phones are probably not the issue here. As I said, we’re expecting MIUI 6 to hit handset mid-November, though that’s not confirmed just yet, at least not that I know of. Xiaomi will hopefully give us a precise rollout schedule sometime soon.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G comes sporting a 5.5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS LCD display along with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (expandable via MicroSD card up to 64GB). Redmi Note is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 400 quad-core SoC clocked at 1.6GHz along with an Adreno 305 GPU. This handset comes equipped with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera which is flanked by an LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. Android 4.2 comes pre-installed on this device along with MIUI 5 OS, though as you can see the device will get updated and will receive MIUI 6 rather soon. The device’s design is rather ordinary and non-expired, though that doesn’t have to be a bad thing, some people actually prefer it. Redmi Note 4G measures 154 x 78.7 x 9.5mm and ships with a 3200mAh battery.
Have you ever had the chance to use a Xiaomi device? Do you own one by any chance?
