Analysts: Meizu Will Launch A 799 Yuan ($130) Smartphone

We are still battling tons of rumors and leaks when it comes to the upcoming Meizu MX4 Pro handset. It seems like the MX4 Pro is not the only Meizu device we’ll see launched until the end of the year. You might recall they were some rumors about a month ago that Meizu will launch several devices by the end of this year, we knew MX4 Pro is one of them, the company has also released 2 new versions of the original MX4 in the process (MX4 Gold and Silverwing editions), but we didn’t get much info on any additional devices. Well, Chinese tech analysts believe that Meizu will launch a 799 Yuan ($130) smartphone. They didn’t specify when though, although I guess that might happen until the end of this year. It seems somewhat odd we didn’t see any leaks of that phone thus far, only Meizu MX4 Pro and some additional non-smartphone related leaks have come our way as far as Meizu is concerned.

This handset is supposed to rival the Xiaomi’s Redmi 1S handset as well as Huawei’s Honor devices. Considering the Alibaba connection, Meizu certainly has enough going for it in order to pull this one out, not to mention tremendous success the company achieved with the original MX4 sales which were through the roof and the phone is still selling rather well. What would this phone look like what specs would it have? Well, we don’t know, but we can always guess. Let’s see, I believe this device would have MX4’s general shape (including the “dot” button below the screen), though it would be made out of plastic quite probably. One of MediaTek’s 64-bit processors would quite probably power on such a device with 1GB of RAM included for multitasking and what not. 720p display seems like a safe bet for a device like this. As far as the camera is concerned, 5 or 8-megapixel sensor seems appropriate at that price point.

If there is any truth to this report, we will most likely see some leaks of said phone rather soon, so stay tuned. Meizu would certainly benefit from launching such a device and become competitive in a whole new market segment, as long as they’re able to distribute this thing properly of course.
