Twitter Updates Mobile Apps to be able to share tweets Privately
This week, Twitter added a bit of a strange feature to their app and service. And that is the ability to share tweets privately. I’m not sure why this is a big deal, but now you can share tweets privately using direct messaging:
“With today’s update you’ll be able to share a Tweet privately with any of your followers. To do this from either the iOS or Android mobile apps, long-press the Tweet in your timeline and choose “Share via Direct Message.” On twitter.com and TweetDeck, tap the “— More” icon and select “Share via Direct Message.” The person you share a Tweet with will get a push notification, and the Tweet will display directly in the conversation.”
SwiftKey Updates with performance enhancements and 12 New Languages
SwiftKey had a pretty big update this week, and that update brought in about 12 new languages as well as some performance enhancements which makes the keyboard a bit faster. Which is a good thing, because it can get a bit slow at times. The 12 new languages that SwiftKey has brought to the keyboard are Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Nepali, Sinhalese.
Nova Launcher Updates to v5.0.3
This week, everyone’s favorite launcher got updated to version 5.0.3. It brings some nice changes as well, according to the changelog. Which lets check out that changelog:
-Lollipop style drawer (Settings – Drawer – Show Pages as Cards)
-Renamed old Circle animation to Circle Wipe, added Lollipop style Circle animation (requires Pages as Cards)
-Fixes and optimizations
United Brings In-Flight Entertainment to their Android App
While many airlines have LCD screens in the headrest for most planes now, especially longer flights, the LCD screens aren’t all that great. And that comes from someone that just took a 14 hour flight to Beijing on Delta. While it’s better than nothing, I would have much rather have used my tablet for the in-flight entertainment. And United is making that a possibility through their latest app update. We’re not sure how the quality of streaming is, but you can pretty much guarantee that it’ll use quite a bit of battery too.
Amazon’s App gets Android Wear Support
For those of you that use Amazon’s app to buy stuff, well you’ll love this update. You can now buy stuff on Amazon.com with your voice, straight from your wrist using Android Wear. Which is pretty interesting and exciting.
Whatsapp includes end-to-end Encryption Now
Now, Whatsapp has end-to-end encryption available with their app. So when you send a message, it’ll be encrypted while on route to their servers, and encrypted again while enroute to the recipient. Not to much to say here, but it’s definitely nice to see this happening.
