Canadian Google Play Store Goes Live with Nexus 6 Pre-Orders on Nov 18

I will never understand why it is so difficult to bring a new smartphone to market – the cloud of secrecy and uncertainty always seems to reign – and the new Google Nexus 6 smartphone is no different.  For Canadians, the cloud is slowly…very slowly…turning into a fog and we are starting to get some signs for you.  Google Canada and Motorola Canada claim that Nexus 6 pre-orders will officially begin November 18 in the Google Play Store.  The 32GB model will go for $749 CDN, the 64GB version will set you back $799 CDN, and it will be available in two colors – Midnight Blue and Cloud White.  Of course, there were no actual shipping dates released, but slowly the fog is lifting…baby steps they always tell us.

From comments we have read, the price alone may scare off many diehard Nexus users, especially those ready to upgrade from their Nexus 5, not to mention those that wait two-years (like myself) to upgrade – can you image going from a Nexus 4 priced at $299 or $349 to the new Nexus 6 prices…talk about sticker shock!  But with great power specs, comes greater pricing – the new Nexus 6 is truly a flagship in every sense of the word and for its specifications and hardware it is still very competitive to other manufacturers.  One saving grace in the U.S. is that the major networks will carry the device with a price of only $199 on a two-year contract, and that helps take the sting out of purchasing a Nexus 6.

The new Nexus 6 is so much larger than the Nexus 5 – we are looking at a 6-inch display and a bump up to a Quad HD (QHD) AMOLED resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and 493 pixels-per-inch (PPI).  Processing power is supplied by the newest Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 clocked at 2.7GHz with a full 3GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage.  Power is supplied by a huge 3220mAh battery to give you power to last a full-day and then some.  The main camera was really upgraded this year to a 13MP with auto-focus, a dual colored LED flash ring that encompasses the lens and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).  The best display…check.  The best of processors available…check.  3GB of RAM…check.  Large battery…Check.  Great camera with OIS and dual colored LED…check.  Running the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system…check. Please hit us up on our Google+ Page and let us know if you will be pre-ordering the new Nexus 6…as always, we would love to hear from you.
