HTC Expects To Remains The Number One Taiwan Android Manufacturer

The President of HTC North Asia, Jack Tong, expects that the business will ship more smartphones into the Tawian market during Q4 2014 compared with Q3, keeping the business at the top of this particular Android tree. Jack notes the business is seeing a huge improvement in sales. Compared the sales numbers of the HTC One (M7) and HTC Butterfly, which took a year to reach one million units, the HTC One (M8), HTC Desire 816 and HTC Butterfly 2 have reached one million units in under six months.
Jack also explained that HTC will focus on the camera-biased HTC Desire EYE and 64-bit Desire 820.

The HTC Desire EYE is on paper a mild retuning of the HTC One (M8), featuring a similar 2.3 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage plus a MicroSD card slot. The Desire EYE has a slightly bigger screen, at 5.2-inch (compared with 5.0-inch for the M8) but the same 1080p resolution. The key difference is that the Desire EYE has two 13 MP cameras, one on the back and one on the front. The Desire EYE has a slightly smaller battery, 2,400 mAh compared with 2,600 mAh for the M8. The other smartphone that HTC have a focus on is the HTC Desire 820, which includes a 5.5-inch, 720p resolution screen, a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage plus a MicroSD card. The Desire 820 has a 13 MP rear camera and an 8 MP front facing unit plus a 2,600 mAh battery.

The Desire EYE is a mid to high end model where the Desire 820 is a mid-range handset, but are joined by of course the HTC One M8, HTC One Mini and lesser models such as the Desire 520. It’s no surprise that Taiwanese HTC remains the number one Android seller in it’s home market, but this isn’t to discount their devices of course! There’s also the small matter of the new HTC Nexus 9, which has just been released across the world and we here at Android Headlines have recently reviewed. It’ll be interesting to see how the business performs in the coming months, especially as they are amongst the first to adopt the new 64-bit generation of processor (both Nvidia and Qualcomm).
