Things are heating up in the Amazon hardware department. Although, the Fire Phone was a bit of a flop, two Amazon hardware products which seemed to have done well are the Fire TV and the newly released Fire Stick. The latter of the two, the Fire Stick looks set to be a seriously good seller for the company. In fact, Amazon only recently announced that it was officially their fasting selling product at launch. For those who have not heard about the Fire Stick yet. Then this is a Chromecast-like device but with a few additions like its compatibility with game controllers, dual-core processor and 1GB RAM all thrown in. It also helps that the Fire stick is only $39. What’s more, at launch Amazon were offering the device for as little as $19 for Prime members.
Well, you might have thought with the release of the Fire Stick, Amazon might have forgotten about its bigger brother, the Fire TV. Well they haven’t. It also seems they don’t want you to forget about it either. This morning Amazon have started offering a rather sweet deal. If you sign up for Prime membership you can pick up the Fire TV for only $59. That’s a $40 discount off its usually $99 and brings the cost down to only $20 more than the Fire Stick. Not bad when you consider the Fire TV is designed to run on Prime anyway. Now, Amazon has not officially announced this in the form of a press release but either way the deal is live on the amazon Fire TV listing page.
If you want to take advantage of the offer then it really is easy. Head over to the Fire TV listing and then right underneath ‘add to cart’ you will see the tickbox which allows you to add Prime. It also says in the box about the $40 discount. What’s more by adding the Prime membership, it will commence straight away and you can take advantage of the Prime two day shipping for your newly purchased Fire TV box. There is a couple of caveats though. The deal is only available for new Prime customers. So if you already have Prime then you are out of luck. Also, it seems this might be a US only type deal. Lastly, the promotion runs from today until 9pm (PT) on November 26th. That said, if you meet those requirements you can pick up a years prime membership and the fire TV for less than $160.
