LG is a company that might very well be doing great when it comes to their high end sales, but they’re also successful in the budget market too, especially in emerging market. Brazil is one of those markets and the company is releasing two new devices that they hope will prove popular with those looking for a quality experience without the need to spend the associated cost. The LG G Prime and G2 Lite are two devices that should satisfy those looking for either a large screened device or something a little more manageable. This past year has seen LG expand their G line to include more affordable devices and these two look to continue that trend.
Starting with the G Prime, LG have put together a 5-inch 800 x 480 IPS panel, with a 1.3 Ghz Qualcomm CPU (presumably the Snapdragon 400) and 1GB of RAM under the hood. It features 8GB of expandable storage and there’s an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera to boot. It’s powered by Android 4.4 KitKat and a 2,460 mAh battery and features many of the software aspects that launched with the G3 earlier in the year.
Moving on to the G2 Lite, which has nothing to do with last year’s flagship when it comes to specs, we’re looking at a 4.5-inch 854 x 480 IPS display with a similar 1.2 Ghz quad-core CPU and 1GB of RAM. Sadly, there’s only 4GB of expandable storage here and the same 8-megapixel rear-facing camera is paired with an underwhelming VGA front-facing shooter. Again, this is running Android 4.4 KitKat as well as the features included in the G3 that launched earlier this year, like Knock Code and more.
Both devices are set to go on sale in Brazil for prices between $250 and $280 and while these aren’t the best devices that LG have ever shipped, they’re fairly capable and there’s not too much wrong with them from an overall viewpoint. Still, it would have been nice to see higher-resolution displays here, as they’re arguably one of the most important parts of a device at this sort of pricepoint.
