We’ve been talking about the Meizu MX4 Pro for a long time now. This handset was leaked like crazy over the last few weeks / months, we’ve seen tons of leaked images, rumored specs and features and even pre-confirmed facts. This handset was a long-awaited piece of technology considering the success of its predecessor Meizu MX4. Meizu MX4 has launched back in September and was a tremendous success, the company has sold tons of these devices in Asia and even outside of it considering the very attractive price of the device, not to mention Meizu actually shipped it for free worldwide and even took care of the import tax. Well, Meizu MX4 Pro is now official, the company has announced it in China only 2 and a half months after the release of the original MX4 Pro, let’s check out how accurate all those rumors / leaks were.
Meizu MX4 Pro is an extremely powerful piece of technology, as we’ve expected and most of the rumors we’ve seen were spot on. The device has leaked in many shapes and form, but the most leaked look was actually the legit one. As you can see, the device is rather similar to the MX4 from the front except for that rectangular button below the screen which replaced the capacitive “dot” and now it also doubles as a fingerprint scanner, push-to-activate fingerprint scanner actually. We’ve already mentioned that the button reminds us of the Galaxy S2 when the image leaked. The design itself is nothing special, but the quality seems to be on par with the MX4 Pro and that device sported great build quality.
As far as Meizu MX4 Pro’s specifications go, this device will ship with a 5.5-inch 2K (2560 x 1536) display with battery saving technology and 3GB of RAM while it will come in multiple storage options, something for everyone. That screen is just 77mm wide and it has 2.8mm thick bezels, which makes it rather sleek looking and compact. As expected, this beast is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 5430 octa-core processor by Samsung, an extremely capable chip, one of the strongest performers Samsung has come up with thus far. 20.1-megapixel camera is located at the back of the device, we’re talking about a Sony’s sensor here, just like the one Meizu included in the original MX4. On the front of the device you’ll find a 5-megapixel sensor. 3350mAh battery is included inside of this thing in order to make sure you’re good to go until the end of the day. Retina Sound is also a part of this package and 123db output will make sure you get a loud and crisp sound coming your way. As far as accessories go, Meizu is offering pair of nice white earphones for this handset. The handset ships with Android 4.4 KitKat with Flyme OS on top of it. You wonder how much this thing costs? Well, the rumors were saying 3199 Yuan for a while, but Meizu has announced pricing from this handset and it starts at 2499 Yuan ($408) for a 16GB version, which is a great price point for this handset. 32GB will cost 2699 Yuan ($441) and the 64GB will set you back 3099 Yuan ($506). Keep in mind these are Chinese prices, the price will go up for international consumers, though even with a slightly higher price this handset is a great offering by Meizu and hopefully the company will once again ship it worldwide. The device will be available starting December 6th in Gray, Gold and Silver color options.
