Motorola Shipping Nexus 6 and Google Play Orders are Hitting Credit Cards

Finally some good news for Google Nexus 6 orders!  Our source is telling us that if you ordered your new Nexus 6 directly from Motorola that readers are starting to receive their shipping notices – one of them receiving shipping info that showed an estimated delivery date of November 20…however, FedEx is showing it as arriving on November 19!  That reader placed their order for a Cloud White 32GB model on November 6 – the first day that Motorola started taking orders.  We are also told that a number of their readers that ordered their Nexus 6 through the Google Play Store are starting to see their credit cards hit with the purchase and generally, that means they may be going out today – or certainly be shipping very soon.

When the Nexus 6 went up for pre-orders in the Google Play Store, the device sold out immediately, and leaving many customers wondering exactly how many devices they had for sale.  Google and Motorola had to know this was coming and yet all we see is ‘coming soon’ or ‘out of stock.’  We expect things to go ‘out of stock,’ but not within minutes of its launch…if they only had a handful of devices, why bother taking pre-orders.  Isn’t the whole idea of having a pre-order option so that the manufacturer can get an idea of how many devices they need when the pre-order is lifted and it is just ‘for sale?’  This year is even more frustrating because Google partnered with the carriers to sell them as well – who gets the first batch of how many devices.  Is it Google’s poor planning or is Motorola simply not capable of producing them fast enough?  We always feel better when there is someone to blame.

Google really pulled out the stops with the new Nexus 6, abandoning the traditional route and upsetting many loyal Nexus users, so it does not help with the additional frustration of not having the device in stock.  I guess there would be some comfort knowing that Google would learn from this experience, but you and I both know that come this time next year, we will be asking the same questions.

Please hit us up on our Google+ Page and let us know if you already ordered your Nexus 6 and are waiting for it to arrive or did you move on to something more available because you did not want to wait.  Who do you blame for the Nexus 6 shortage…as always, we would love to hear from you.
