I was really excited about the Droid Turbo, but with the Droid designation, we knew that it would be a Verizon only product – it seemed like a crime to waste all of that technology on only a device that only customers on Verizon would have access. It sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor clocked at 2.7GHz coupled to 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The Droid Turbo has a 20.7MP main camera with auto-focus and a dual-LED flash ring that encompasses the lens. It is powered by a mammoth 3900mAh battery and contains a beautiful 5.2-inch Quad HD (QHD) AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels with 565 pixels-per-inch (PPI).
What about other markets outside of Verizon’s reach – do they not deserve a device like the Droid Turbo? There may hope after all for some other countries or markets – take those specifications, up the internal memory to 64GB, change it to GSM and change the name to Moto Maxx and we have a new device for the masses. Before you get too excited, Moto seems to be very finicky where they are launching the new Moto Maxx. A tweet on Moto’s board from a Motorola Canada representative (see below) definitely tells us that the Moto Maxx will not be landing in Canada…”Thanks for reaching out! There are no plans to bring #MotoMaxx to Canada. Let us know if you have any other Qs.” It is a shame and a little surprising since Motorola and Canada have a good relationship – the Moto G sold like crazy in Canada, but you never know…they may change their minds.
The new Moto Maxx will be available in Brazil and Mexico this month on Motorola.com website, as well as promised availability for other Latin American countries soon. There will be no Moto Maxx in Europe according to other tweets and no mention so far about the Asian markets. Hopefully over the next few days more markets will be announced – and maybe they will change their mind regarding a Canadian release.
Please let us know on our Google+ Page if you were looking forward to getting the Moto Maxx in Canada before this announcement. What will be your next device…as always, we would love to hear from you.
