There is much we know about the new Google Nexus 6 smartphone – it is big, it is a high-end flagship and it is expensive – but the most important answer everybody is waiting to hear is WHEN are we getting the device in our grubby hands. The Play Store is announcing for all four models: “We are out of inventory. Please check back soon.” Some reports hint that the Nexus 6 will begin sales on T-Mobile on November 12 – but if we can believe the screenshot from a Reddit thread and a conversation between a Nexus 6 buyer and Google support (see below), we may begin seeing the Nexus 6 rather soon. The Google rep replies:
“Thanks for your interest in learning more about Nexus 6,” the message reads. “It’s always great to hear from our customers. As far as I’m aware, the Nexus 6 will not start shipping until around 11/03/13. We will process the orders chronologically. I apologize that I don’t have any additional details that I can share with you about when your Nexus 6 will ship; at this time, I am only able to share information on products that are currently listed in Google Play.”
When Google made the decision to upgrade the Nexus 6 – big time – to a phablet sized device with top-end specs, there were many disappointed readers. The shear size of the device was a turn-off to the average user that tends to feel more comfortable with a 5-inch device rather than the 6-inch display found on the Nexus 6, and while many were excited that it was finally becoming a true high-end device, they forgot that with great specifications comes a great price tag. Nexus users were used to a solid device with ‘almost’ the best technology, a small battery, a mediocre camera and a terrific price tag – generally around $350. The new Nexus 6 is a shock to the normal Nexus user, however, sales are now opened up to many others, that want the best of the best…a chance to spread pure Android to more of the population. There is nothing Google would like better than to have ALL Android devices use the pure vanilla 5.0 Lollipop – less fragmentation and faster upgrades.
